Cookie policy

The short version

When you first arrive, a small bar asks whether we may use Google Analytics to see which pages help. Until you answer, and if you decline, nothing from Google Analytics is loaded, so no request goes to Google and no analytics cookie is set. The fonts are served from this site, so no request goes to a font provider, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers anywhere on the site.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the same browser on a later page or a later visit. Some cookies are needed for a site to work. Others, like the analytics cookies below, are optional, and the law says we must ask before we set them, which is why the bar asks on your first visit.

The analytics cookies

If you accept, we load Google Analytics, which sets two cookies on your device: one named _ga and one named _ga_ followed by the property identifier. Both last up to two years. They let Google Analytics count a returning browser as the same visitor rather than a new one, so we can see, in the aggregate, which pages are read and which are not. We use that only to make the site clearer. We have turned off the advertising features, so the data is not used to target ads. The referral cookie

If you arrive through a link from one of our partners, the bar also asks whether we may keep a cookie named axi_ref. It remembers which partner's link you came through, for 90 days, so we can pay that partner if you become a client. It is set only if you accept on a bar that mentions it, and the Cookie settings link deletes it with the analytics cookies.

The portal and the client sign-in at axigrowth.com/app set their own cookies, only on pages under /app. axi_bench keeps you signed in for up to thirty days, or until you sign out. axi_device is set each time you sign in and lasts 180 days from then, including after you sign out. It tells us this browser has signed in to your account before, so someone guessing your password cannot lock you out. axi_pending lasts five minutes while you enter a two-step sign-in code, and axi_oauth lasts fifteen minutes while you connect a mailbox or calendar. These are strictly necessary for signing in and keeping your account secure, so they are set without asking, and they carry no analytics or advertising.

One more is set only when you ask for it. If you hide the set-up steps on the portal's first page, bench_setup_hidden keeps them hidden for a year. Our own admin pages set two sign-in cookies, mtn_admin and mtn_admin_device, which only our staff receive.

Storage that is not a cookie

Two things are kept in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie. One is your answer to the cookie bar, so we do not ask again, and it never reaches us. The other is the currency you pick at the foot of a page, if you pick one. It only changes the currency the prices are shown in. In the portal, your browser also remembers which part of a page you had open, until you close the tab. Clearing your browser data removes all of these, and the bar will ask again on your next visit.

Change or withdraw consent

You can change your mind at any time. The Cookie settings link at the foot of every page brings the bar back; it turns analytics off and deletes the analytics cookies straight away, and you can then accept or decline again.
