Cookiepolicy

This site sets no cookies until you accept analytics. If you accept, it uses Google Analytics and nothing else. This page lists what that means and how to change your mind.

The short version

When you first arrive, a small bar asks whether we may use Google Analytics to see which pages help. Until you answer, and if you decline, this site stores nothing on your device that could identify you and runs no analytics. The fonts are served from this site, so no request goes to a font provider, and there are no advertising or social-media trackers anywhere on the site.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the same browser on a later page or a later visit. Some cookies are needed for a site to work. Others, like the analytics cookies below, are optional, and the law says we must ask before we set them. That is what the bar does.

The analytics cookies

If you accept, we load Google Analytics, which sets two cookies on your device: one named _ga and one named _ga_ followed by the property identifier. Both last up to two years. They let Google Analytics count a returning browser as the same visitor rather than a new one, so we can see, in the aggregate, which pages are read and which are not. We use that only to make the site clearer. We have turned off the advertising features, so the data is not used to target ads, and Google Consent Mode holds analytics at "denied" until you accept, so nothing is set before then. Google acts as our processor for this; you can read its own description of these cookies on the Google Analytics support site.

Storage that is not a cookie

Two things are kept in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie, and neither reaches us until you act. Your answer to the cookie bar is remembered so we do not ask again. Anything you add to your basket is kept on your device and is sent to us only when you place an order. Clearing your browser data removes both, and the bar will ask again on your next visit.

Change or withdraw consent

You can change your mind at any time. To withdraw consent, clear this site's cookies and storage in your browser settings, which removes the analytics cookies and your saved choice; the bar then appears again on your next visit and you can decline. You can also block or delete cookies for any site in your browser's own settings. For how we handle personal data more widely, see the privacy policy.

Questions aboutcookies or data

If anything here is unclear, ask and we will explain it in plain terms. We answer within one working day.
